TRANSCRIBED FROM THE CLEVELAND COUNTY HERALD JUNE 7, 1917 P. 8
Fort Logan H. Roots, May 3.
Editor Herald:
Here I come with a letter from a good old soldier. I would like to know what is the matter with the people down about Saline Siding. I can’t get a letter from anyone there. I wrote to all the young people, and when I didn’t get a reply I wrote the old folks a letter, and by George, they won’t write to me either. I am going to get a furlough before long and go and see what is the matter with them. I believe some of the others must have gotton married. I would like to know everything has happened down there. Has Dave Cash had a wreck with his Ford? How is the cotton crop; has anybody beaten anybody else’s time?
Write.
