TRANSCRIBED FROM THE SPECTATOR OCTOBER 13, 1917 P. 1
Somewhere in England,
Monday, Sept. 2J
Dear Mother:
Arrived here several days ago. Have not had time to write nor cable, and I’m writing under extreme difficulties and on a scrap of paper. We are having a fine time; not much work and everything is pleasant. I’m even wishing the discipline was more rigid. Things are very, very pleasant. Was not sea-sick and enjoyed the trip across. Saw a good deal of England. Will write you from somewhere in a few weeks.
Your soldier son.
