Mr. And Mrs. John Frost:
Dear Folks:-
I have just come home from the hospital where I learned that Abe passed away Tuesday night Aug. 20th, with pneumonia.
I am so sorry, and extend to you my heartfelt sympathy, in this bereavement that has come to you. I did not get to see him. having been in camp here only a few days and not knowing where to find him.
He was very ill, and suffered a great deal, but bore it like a man and was prepared to go. He was ill only a few days, not more than a week. I could not find what disposal had been made of his body, but will try again if I find out, and will let you know.
You may get some consolation in knowing that he was faithful to trust, and has made the supreme sacrifice for his country. Many more are making the same sacrifices, so you do not suffer alone.
Again expressing my deepest love and sympathy for you. I beg to remain, as ever.
Your friend,
Hubert F. Baslain
