TRANSCRIBED FROM THE SCOTT COUNTY ADVANCE REPORTER NOVEMBER 21, 1918 P. 1
Nov.14, 1918.
Dear Editor and readers of the Advance Reporter:
Hello to you all.
I am all o.k. and having a good time at present and getting plenty to eat but it is all mixed up pretty bad. I will get use to that soon. I would like to be in old Scott County for I have a dear little girl and a host of friends I would like to see. I think that I will see you all soon; thus I can tell you some about Army Life.
This sure is a pretty country. I sure like Scott County better myself, for every one is strong here.
They have raised the quarantine. We can get the cantine and get any thing to eat that is some pleasure. I just soon be at home, it would be more pleasure to me for the ducks will soon be coming over, you know I like to hunt, I don’t think that I will get to shoot any Huns for they have gave up.
I will close. Answer soon. Address
Wm. F. Bennett.
5th Co., 7th B. N., 165 D. B., Camp Travis, Texas
NOTES: This letter was written by William Franklin Bennett. He was born on February 1, 1897 in Waldron, Arkansas and died on April 17, 1969 in San Diego, California.
