TRANSCRIBED FROM THE ASHLEY EAGLE OCTOBER 31, 1918 P. 1
France:
Dear Cousin:
No doubt you will be surprised to hear from me, but I’ve been so busy since I’ve been over here that I haven’t had time to write. Believe me, France is sure some beautiful place. I would write and tell you all about it, but it is not allowed. So, by and by, when I come back I will tell you all about France, and I believe we get to see Germany pretty soon. Tell Aunt not to worry about me for I am all right. I am so fat that my breath is real short, and that’s all the danger I know of now. The boys are making it hot for the Boche every day, and I believe we will soon come home. Please answer soon
Your cousin,
Walter Bilbo, Co. K.,
153 Inf., A.E.F.
