TRANSCRIBED FROM THE LAMAR DEMOCRAT AUGUST 21, 1917 P. 2
Dear sister:
Received your letter some time ago but this is my first chance to answer. Am kept quite busy. Am in good health and hope you are the same. Is Joe still working at the mines?
In your next letter tell me all that is going on there. This is the prettiest place I ever saw. Am having a great time taking saltwater baths with the bunch of boys. Is Toney and Mile still going to school? When did you hear from Spadra, do they have any dances there now? I will close, hoping to hear from you often.
Good bye, from your brother George.
My address is:
Pvt. George Broach,
18 Inf. Co. G.
Amex forces, Paris, France
NOTES: Letter was written to his sister, Mrs. Ella Roberts. He was writing from “somewhere in France.”
