Editor Star Herald:
As this is newspaper day with us I will write a few lines to my Arkansas home friends, in regard to army life.
I like the army fine so far. We have plenty of interesting duties, and a Y.M.C.A. where we can spend our spare time writing letters, and then we can go to the picture show every evening. I got two or three “bawling outs” during the first few days I was here, but am getting along fine now. I really did not expect to have much fun. I started in to get the Kaiser, and when I do this I expect to come back to dear old Arkansas to live.
I suppose a number of my old friends there have been drafted, but I am sure they will all be willing to go and fight for their country when the time comes.
I would like to hear from some of the boys and girls.
From an Arkansan,
Luther C. Brown.
42nd Inf. Co. A.
