St. Aignan, Noyers, France,
March 9, 1919
Dear Mother:
I will answer your dear letters that I received yesterday and sure was glad to hear from you all. This leaves me all o. k. and in the best of health. I just got back off my leave yesterday, and am pretty tired today. I was down at Lucheon on my leave, and I also went over into Spain and into the Pynners mountains. I have seen a good bit of France in the last few weeks. I have been to a good many towns over here. I have been to Varrazone, Paris, Bourgee, St.Florrant , Issoadon, Chatreaux, Towloase, Montanbana and Montrejeau that is the towns that I was in while I was on my leave. Besides I stayed at Lucheon that is the leave errie for eleven days and were in a good many small towns while I was there. I was in two towns in Spain, It is a wealthy country, Mother. The leave area where I was at was one of the largest gambling places in the world I was in a place where Harry. K. Thaw lost a million dollars inn one night. The Y. M. C. A. Casino in the building at the present time Mother I was in the Pynners mountains and the snow was seven or eight feet deep. I was gone for fourteen days on my leave and I sure did have some time while I was away. Mother, I got a letter from Lillie and she is all o.k. and in the best of health.
Well Mother, I will have to close for this time and write Hazel a few lines but I will have to go to work pretty soon for I am working in the office now and it keeps me pretty well busy writing all the time on the typewriter to keep the books and papers straight for we have 458 men in the company.
Well, Mother, I will close for this time. Hoping to hear from you all real soon and a long letter.
