Mrs. Mildred Cariker,
McCrory, Ark.
My Dear Darling Wife and Sweet Little Babe:
I will write you again this morning. How are you all this morning? I truly hope every body’s well and enjoying good health. This writing leaves me feeling good, all except I have the headache.
How are all of Mamma’s folk, and all the rest? When was the last time you saw Cleveland’s folk, are they all well? I hope if I get to be sent home any time soon that every body will be well, so we can all have a family dinner some where. Darling you know I’d sure enjoy eating a good old chocolate cake that was cooked at home, for I am nearly starved for a good old cake or piece of fried chicken: and I know if I can come home that you will cook me something to eat, wont you darling one?
Sweetheart, I have prayed to God that he may spare me to live to get back to you and my precious, sweet little babe, and I feel like my prayers are going to be answered. He has blessed me in many ways, for which I am thankful.
Darling, I intend to live for God the balance of my days, it is just as easy to live a clean, christian life as it is to live in sin: and darling, I have some dear friends that I’d like to see change their way of living, and I think I can have some influence over them when I come home.
Sweetheart, I just feel so much better that I want to see every body changed from sin and live for Christ.
Well Darling, cook a good dinner for Xmas day. I am in hopes I can eat dinner at home that day. So I will close with lots of love and kisses to all. so answer real soon, from your true and loving husband.
GROVER CARIKER.
