Dear Mother:
I wonder if you have given up ever getting another letter from me? I guess you still expect one. You will have to forgive my not writing, as we have had no connection by mail for many days. Now, when hostilities ceased, we were so far that we could not write, so had to wait until we got across the great “No Man’s Land,” so called because uninhabited by civilian people, but we have now crossed to the other side, with the army of occupation.
We last fought in the great Argome Forest battle. We were all through that, it sure was a warm one, too, believe me. I don’t know when we will come home but it think it will be in the course of the next six months. You need not worry about me at all, for I’m coming back some day.
I am addressing this to the old address. The last letters I had were over a month ago. My paper is limited to one sheet so I will close. Oh! yes, we got paid to-day, first time in five months. Sure was glad to get it, believe me. Love to all. Good-by.
Your son,
