Camp Deming. N.M., Jan. 30, 1917,
Dermott News,
Dermott, Arkansas.
We noticed in your paper of last week that the good people of Dermott were preparing to give the boys of Co. K a warm welcome home; will say that we will be only too glad to be with our good friends of Dermott once more. We only have two boys in the camp hospital and they will join us in time to entrain with the company.
We have thirty-five in the company but only nine are home boys; however we will try our best to get the boys that live in other parts of the state to accompany us home, as we want to show them how the people of Dermott can entertain.
We expect to arrive in Little Rock Monday, Feb. 5th, and will be at the fort about thirty days.
We thank you and the Dermott people for the interest you have taken in Co. K, and assure you that we appreciate same.
Your friends,
The Boys of Co. K.
NOTES: This letter was in reference to a welcoming home celebration for military units who were returning from service in Mexico. Company K was a part of the First Arkansas Infantry.
