TRANSCRIBED FROM THE MOUNTAIN ECHO OCTOBER 18, 1918 P. 4
Camp Pike, Sept. 19th, ’18.
Editor Echo:
In writing you this morning, will say, that I have been transferred to the 52nd Co., 13 Tr. Bn. I would like for you to send The Echo to me regularly, as it is a world of company to me, as in that way I can get the news from home.
We had quite an accident here this morning. During an electrical storm the lightning struck a tree near us and several of the boys were badly shocked, and eight of them were taken to the hospital. We have hopes of their recovery.
I am still in Camp Pike, and still under good officers therefore I feel that I am a lucky soldier boy, and I send my best wishes and kindes regards to my friends in Marion.
Respectfully,
James Crownover.
