Dear Mother and Brother:
I will write you all a short letter on some of my stationary the A.R.C. gave me. Guess what I got from the Red Cross: I went down to the Red Cross store this cold Monday morning and got a sweater that was made by Rose Mulleda in Chicago on 314 East 704st St., one pair knit gloves which I was glad to get. I am going to write Rose Mulleda and thank her for the sweater she made for me. I believe that she would be glad to know who has received the sweater she made in her spare time. The soldiers over here in France are certainly getting the goods the girls that spent their time for us over here.
I must go as it is time for me to eat my dinner. So write soon.
With Best Wishes,
Walter Dowell
NOTES: Dowell was serving in Battery B, 142nd FA in France.
