TRANSCRIBED FROM THE SCOTT COUNTY ADVANCE REPORTER DECEMBER 13, 1917 P. 3
Camp Beauregard, La.
Nov. 2nd, 1917.
Mr. T. O. Abbot,
Will write you to let you know that the Scott County boys are getting along fine. The bunch that left the 18th of Sept. are still together except about two which were transferred when we arrived here to the machine gun company. We have about seven thousand head of stock here to tend to. It sure does take some feed for them. There are about 250 of us boys out here. We are about a mile and a half from the main camp. Are glad to hear of the interest the people back at home are taking in the Y. M. C. A. and especially you putting in your time going over the country working for it. If it wasn’t for them the soldier boys would be lonesome at night when they can go there and pass off time and have a good time. My father wrote me about the interest you are taking in the work. I thought I would let you know we are sure glad you people still remember us boys. We are all better satisfied here than we were at Camp Pike. I remain,
Your Friend,
Clyde Doyel,
Remount Depot.
