TRANSCRIBED FROM THE SHARP COUNTY RECORD OCTOBER 18, 1918 P. 1
Editor Record:
We are here in England and enjoying life. Sharp county is well represented here. There are more Sharp county boys with my regiment than any other that has come across yet, or that possibly will come over. Our top sergeant is Tom Davis of Williford, and my bunkies are Joe Cordell, Charles Felts and Horace Felkins, all Sharp county boys.
We are proud of what we are going to do, and if the folks at home didn’t worry any more than we boys, war wouldn’t be half so bad. We are all getting fat and feel like a mean mule, or rather we act like that.
Airplanes are as thick here as birds are at home, and the skies are full of searchlights at night. We have been over a good portion of England and have seen some beautiful country. The forests here present scenery that certainly cannot be beaten.
