TRANSCRIBED FROM THE MOUNTAIN ECHO DECEMBER 6, 1918 P. 1
Navy Yard Philadelphia, Pa.,
November 27th, 1918
Editor Echo:- I want to write my friends in dear old Marion county, and this is the best way I can find.
It has been but a few days since I left Marion county, having spent several days their on a furlough. I am still stationed at Philadelphia, Pa., but don’t know how long I will be here. They are sending out drafts pretty often now. I may get to go across, but don’t think so now. I think foreign drafts are stopped for a while.
This leaves me O. K. and hope it will find the Marion county people the same.
I will write my present address so if anyone wants to write me, they can. I like to get letters from home folks. It is some enjoyment to me.
From a sailor boy,
Ruey. A. Estes,
General Detail,
9th Batallion,
Barracks 410, Philadelphia, Pa.
