NOTES: This partial letter was written by Victor Carl Fene to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Fene of Huntington, Arkansas. He was writing about where he had recently been in battle. He also reported he had completely recovered from wounds. He was born on August 21, 1893 in Huntington, Arkansas and died on June 19, 1969. He is buried in the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. His military headstone identifies him as an Arkansas, Pvt Co H 28th Infantry serving in World War I. The newspaper incorrectly spells his name Feene.
