TRANSCRIBED FROM THE SPRINGDALE NEWS OCTOBER 26, 1918 P. 3
Somewhere on the Water.
Dear Sister:
Will write you a few lines. I am on the water now. I am well and having a good time.
Where is Mack now? Suppose Chas. has gone over, I haven’t heard from him in over a month.
I got on the ship somewhere in Canada but that’s all I know. I can’t tell anything, so don’t know anything to write. Hope you are all well. How are Uncle Joe and Aunt Mary?
I guess I will close for this time and will write again as soon as I can.
Love to all. Your loving brother,
Carl W. Ford.
NOTES: Ford was writing to his sister Mrs. Mack Wolfe of north of Springdale, Arkansas. He was born in 1896 and died in 1980. He is buried in the Siloam Springs Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. His military headstone identifies him as a Private First Class serving in the US Army during WWI.
