TRANSCRIBED FROM THE GREEN FOREST TRIBUNE APRIL 12, 1918 P. 2
Some place in Kansas, April 3, 1918.
Dear mother:
I suppose you received my telegram stating that I am on way to training camp. I am writing this letter on the train but I hope you will be able to read it.
We left Pueblo yesterday at 4 p.m. and will get to Camp FUnston at 3 p.m. today. I am in charge of the boys from Pueblo and am having good luck so far.
I hated to give up my position but I will get it back when I return.
Yesterday I mailed you two envelopes containing my liberty bonds and insurance papers. Also my oil stocks. Please take care of them. I lost some valuable oil stocks but may be able to find them later. If so, I will send them to you.
Don’t worry about me for I will be all right. I will write when I am located.
Your loving son,
George Gunn.
