Advance Reporter:
Just a few words form a soldier boy in Texas. Some few weeks ago I left Waldron for Waco, Tex. This sure is a nice place where the south breeze blows continually. But don’t guess we will stay here long as we are billed for Gorden City, N. Y. We have been taking a few ten mile hikes, of course that was not much. We went ten miles yesterday just to get our pictures made. Decoration day we (about 3,000) went to church.
Now just a few words to the boys and girls. I know,--to the girls more especially. If you are expecting to send me a cake, do not send it but send me a letter with all the news. It is easy for me when I am over in town to go some place and buy cakes but to go in and buy a letter from some one at home is something I can’t do. So all who will write me a letter. Arthur Sherrills is a blue looking kid since he received his girl’s picture. Yesterday I walked into his tent, he asked me if I ever saw his girl’s picture, I told him no. Poor boy as he was handing them to me I could almost see the tears coming in his eyes. He says a boy with his “khaki” haven’t got much of a chance.
Just a few words about William Ayers,--Old Bill is all the time jolly, but he has the blues as he haven’t got but one letter from home. He and I will go to town to-night.
Well, I could write lots about myself but I haven’t time, as I have lots more writing to do.
With love and best wishes to all, I am,
Alva Hall,
20th Const. Co. 5th Prov, Regt., Aviation Corps, Waco, Tex.
