TRANSCRIBED FROM THE MENA WEEKLY STAR, DECEMBER 13, 1917 P. 4
114 Engineers, Co. F.
Camp Beauregard, La.
To The Star:
I take greatest pleasure in writing to The Star.
I am in the army and I like this branch of services, the engineering corps. very well. We are getting along fine except when in the sticks, where we can’t get what we want and are not very well fixed.
I am in Camp Flaggon now, and we have just finished a bridge 300 feet long about nine miles from Camp Beauregard to the rifle range. The road and bridge were built by the 114th Engineers, Co. F. I helped build a road a Camp Pike to the target range when I was in Co. D, 312 Engineers. We have built several short bridges along the road.
We don’t knfhahrd hrd hrdludl
We will leave here this week, but don’t know where we will go.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I am,
Yours truly,
Daniel M. Heath
114 Engineers, Co. F,

NOTES: Daniel Martin Heath was born on August 10, 1893 at Broadcamp, Polk County, Arkansas and died on September 1969. He is buried in the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena, Arkansas.
