TRANSCRIBED FROM THE COURIER DEMOCRAT FEBRUARY 21, 1918 P. 4
Camp Beauregard, La.,
February 17, 1918.
To the Dear Old C-D:
We kindly ask for a small space in which to report the fact that we boys from the good little town of Hector are very sorry to read the sad news of our dear friend, “Uncle” George Rushing.
Uncle George has gone through what we are now stepping into. But the good Lord spared him for a long and useful life and calls him in old age to a better land. And we feel sure the angels will welcome him there.
We trust the good Lord will bless Aunt Fannie with good health during the absence of her partner through life: and that she and other dear ones he left will soon recover from the shock and grief.
From the Hector Boys,
142nd Field Artillery,
Camp Beauregard, La.
