TRANSCRIBED FROM THE GREEN FOREST TRIBUNE DECEMBER 12, 1918 P. 2
Camp Travis, Nov. 28
To the Tribune and Its many reader:
As this is the day of thanksgiving I wish to say that the soldiers of Camp Travis are sure giving thanks to Uncle Sam for the many turkeys and many other good eats we had today. We sure have had a time we will never forget. Uncle Sam has spent lots of money that we might enjoy one good meal while under arms for him. We were sorry that some of the boys who had been discharged were not with us. Several received their discharge this morning and bade us good bye and made haste for heir home and loved ones.
Well, army life is not so bad and one thing I greatly regret is I never got to go over the top after those brutal Huns. Will stop scribbling hoping that you have all had a great day and that the next one will be as happy as this.
I remain a friend to all,
Pvt. H. C. Hedrick
