TRANSCRIBED FROM THE MOUNTAIN WAVE NOVEMBER 15, 1918 P. 3
Siberia, October 6, 1918,
Mr. R. Highland, Marshall, Ark.
Dear Dad:
How is everybody? Good with myself. Made the trip fine. Am not much of a sailor. Sure was sick for the first two day sout, but last of the journey was fine. Was 27 days making the trip. This is not a bad place. Good barracks and and plenty of “chow.” Everyone seems to be enjoying life. So don’t worry, for I will “get by” fine. There is not much to write about, so good-bye for this time.
Your Son,
PVT. CLIFTON HIGHLAND
Co. C, 31st Infantry
Care of Quartermaster’s Depot,
