Dear Friend:
We are giving the Germans all we have this fall and expect to get back to the States this time next fall. I had a very nice time in England for three months and saw London, Liverpool, Bristol, Bath, Winchester, ____ and other places of interest. It is a great experience here in France. We are A. E. F. officially and ____ _____ and make of those pretty French girls.
I am getting along fine with my squadron. It is a happy bunch and have very little trouble. Have had only drunk and and court marshall in six months.
NOTES: A partial letter by Lieut. Raymond Lee Hiles to his friend, Mrs. G. W. Petty. He was born June 23, 1894, Garden City, Kansas and died December 8, 1957, Dallas, Texas. He is buried Woodland Cemetery, Rosebud, Texas. He went to school in Polk County and worked for the Petty stores two years. He graduated from Hendrix College in Conway and was working for the Rock Island Rail Road out of Little Rock when he entered the service. His Pulaski County draft card lists him as medium height and build with light blue eyes and light brown hair.
