TRANSCRIBED FROM THE PRESCOTT DAILY NEWS JANUARY 28, 1918 P. 3
I have moved all across the U.S. and landed at the water’s edge at last, and think I have made fairly good time. This is a great shipping point and many brave soldiers have stepped from land to water here. I figure to be here some time before I go over and even think I will get home but it is a cinch that I go some time.
I am going over to New York the firstc hance I get. It is some place.
Inasmuch as I am to be here a while I want you to send the daily paper.
Very truly yours,
Grover C. Hitt,
Newport News, Va., 410 Motor Truck Co., Camp Hill.
NOTES: This partial letter was written by Grover C. Hitt to the editor of the newspaper. He was born on May 19, 1893 in Prescott, Arkansas and died on February 16, 1945.
