TRANSCRIBED FROM THE ASHLEY COUNTY EAGLE SEPTEMBER 5, 1918 P. 1
Camp Shelby, Miss., Aug. 27th
Editor Eagle:
On July 6th thirty-five of us boys left Ashley County for Camp Shelby. On August 3rd we were assigned to a Regular Company. Nearly all of us are in the 76th Brigade. Here is our record the first time on the range. We appreciate the fact that the officials think we have an even chance with the Hun when we “go over the top.”
With best regards to the people of Ashley County.
Yours truly,
Floyd E. Holloway
Co. F 151st Infantry
NOTE: Floyd Earnest Holloway was born on January 2, 1958 and died on October 20, 1958. He is buried in the Portland Cemetery in Portland, Arkansas.
