Dear Mother:
I get a little lonesome some times since I came back, and it seems more like a dream. My trip home. But I wouldn’t take anything in the world for the memory of it.
Do not worry about me for I will make it alright and come back home sometime. I think this war will be over in another year and I can always be glad I did my part. I am contented for I feel like I am doing my duty, and I came back more determined than ever to make a true soldier, and always mean to do my duty as long as my life lasts. I am feeling fine, have caught up with my sleep. I was worn out when I got here, but sure have had a good rest. It seems good to be back in the noise and bustle of army life once more.
I must close. Write soon.
Your loving son,
Robert H. Horn.
