TRANSCRIBED FROM THE MENA WEEKLY STAR NOVEMBER 29, 1917 P. 4
To The Star, Mena, Ark.
I take the greatest pleasure in writing to The Star. I am in the army and like the life fine.
We are in Beauregard, La. Arriving here last Wednesday a week ago, and we like it better than Camp Pike. I have been taking The Star ever since I went into the service. I do not want to miss a paper. It would be like missing a letter from home.
Thank the Polk county people for what they have done to help maintain the Y. M. C. A. It does a lot of good among the soldier boys.
Since we have been here most of the boys have got the measles and we can’t go anywhere. I hope the good people at home will make lots of good things for us to eat, and I want to hear from others of the army boys thru The Star.
Hope this will miss the waste basket. Yours truly,
Bluford W. Joplin.
Remount Dept. No. 314, Camp Beauregard, La. Nov. 23. 1917.
