TRANSCRIBED FROM THE DEWITT ENTERPRISE JANUARY 3, 1918 P. 1
Camp Beauregard, La.
December 31, 1917
To the DeWitt Enterprise and Dear People of Arkansas County:
We, the boys of Arkansas county, who gained the courage to give our services and possibly our lives for the protection of the colors and the dear old folks at home, send greetings.
We spend a merry Christmas in the piney hills of Louisiana, enjoying the many nice things we received from our little town of Dewitt, for the reason it was so much trouble for the patriotic citizens of DeWitt preparing so many nice things for us boys who are training so hard to defend our dear old United States flag, that has never yet been defeated. And we hope to wave the dear old flag over Germany’s soil and then return to our dear ones at home.
Well we wish to thank you once more, hoping that you spent a merrier Christmas than we soldiers.
Yours respectfully,
Cook E. L. Keller, 114 Am. Tr., 39th Div., Co. A
