August 10, 1918.
Dear Mother:
I received your letter yesterday. It was the first time I had heard from you in a long time.
I have gotten the stuff you sent me.
We have the Dutch on the run now and are going to eat Christmas dinner in Berlin with the Kaiser.
Well I am proud of the bunch I am with for it is the “fightingest bunch in France. That means a lot.
