TRANSCRIBED FROM THE SHARP COUNTY RECORD OCTOBER 25, 1918 P. 2
Editor Record:
We are located near Winchester, England, at a rest camp where we do nothing but take hikes and play baseball. On our hikes we see some great things. One afternoon lately we visited an old castle built by Julius Caesar in 55 B. C., which we explored thoroughly. Since leaving the good old U. S. A. we have seen many big things. When we landed in England and the people began to cheer and the bands began to play, you may bet that we felt mighty fine.
We see so many new things that we never have time to get homesick. None of us think the war will last long, and we are all looking forward to the day when we will again see our native land. We lack for nothing here except a Sharp county girl to talk to on the lonesome Sundays.
