TRANSCRIBED FROM DE QUEEN BEE AUGUST 30, 1918 P. 2
Dear Grandparents:
Will answer your letter which I was glad to receive. This leaves me feeling fine and hope you are the same. Sure was sorry to hear of Grandmother being sick. Hope she is better by now. How do you like it out there by now? Would like to come out to see you, but I think 6,000 miles is most too far to walk and swim.
You asked me to tell you a lot about my daily life. I would be glad to let you know my duty, but it is against the rules. I suppose there is some difference in the way you served in the war you were in and the war I am serving. The submarines do not bother my mind, as they haven’t got much of a chance. Will close, hoping to hear from you soon. As ever,
Your grandson,
Bradford
NOTES: Bradford Lee of De Queen, Arkansas was writing to his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Rivers.
