TRANSCRIBED FROM THE MALVERN TIMES JOURNAL SEPTEMBER 11, 1917 P. 8

Malvern Times-Journal
Dear Sir:
I noticed in your last weeks issue where you had me as being in Malvern on Sunday before that down from Camp Pike. I wish to correct that error as I am at Ft. Roots, however it doesn’t make so very much difference but still so long as I am a volunteer for Uncle Sam I had rather people would think that way about it. Still I don’t mean to say that it is a disgrace to be drafted, but so long as I was not, I would rather people would think I am not.
I suppose my friends at Malvern know the difference but some may not.
How I do miss the good people at Malvern and how I wish I could be there with them but still I think I can be of more service to them in this manner than any other way.
If any of you people from Malvern come to Little Rock be sure to see us and don’t think we are not glad to see you but we only hope you can realize how glad we are to see you.
Hoping I have the pleasure of soon being with you good people some more for I don’t think it long until Uncle Sam will have the Kaiser and then it will all be over.
Your friend
DOYLE LORD,
15th Ark. Ambulance Co.
