Mrs. Griselda V. Peters.
Dear Mother:
I am writing you to let you know I am well and doing all right, and hope when these few lines reach you they will find you well and doing fine. Mamma, this is the greatest day I have spent since I have been in France. This is Mothers’ Day with all American soldiers in France. I don’t know whether they celebrated it over there or not. It is a day to be long remembered in France. I shall never forget my first Mothers’ Day in France.
Private Harry H. T. Lorry.
NOTES: Harry H. T. Lowry (his name was misspelled by the newspaper) was an African American soldier. He was born in Arkansas in 1900 and died on December 38, 1930. He served as a Pvt. in Co. B. 306th Service Bn.
