Mrs. Nannie Watkins:
Dear Sis, well to-day is my birththday and I am 32 and enjoying good health. Hope you all the same. Sure would like to be in old scott county but guess I won’t be soon. We are in the army of occupation now and guess we will___ to clean up France and ____.
We are in ____now. In a little town ______Germany. _______ guard duty now guarding what the Germans left behind, mostly amunition.
There are about 75 car loads and it scattered all over the country, they sure did have lots of it.
Well I was up on the front when the war closed, was up there one month and ten days. Just had me a cup of sweet milk and bread the first milk I’ve drank since I left home had it sure was good too. We pay 15 ct a qt. and butter is $3.00 a lb. eggs 15 cents each. We can get plenty beer and wine here but you know I don’t like them much. I hope you are well, have a merry Xmas.
Will have my Xmas when I get home. We thought when the war closed we would be home for Christmas but things change in the army. Do you ever read any thing about the 79 division that is my division and it is cracked up to be one of the best over here. Well I will close ans soon and a long letter from your bro.
