TRANSCRIBED FROM THE SPRINGDALE NEWS FEBRUARY 17, 1919 P. 3
Leutesdorf, Germany, Dec.18 1918
Dear Mother:
Will drop you a few lines as we have stopped for awhile, but don’t know how long. We don’t stay in one place very long or haven’t for some time.
How is everybody? I guess it is getting cold there by now. We have not had any cold weather here yet, but have had lots of rain.
We crossed the Rhine the 18th, but we are still on the banks. There are lots of towns along the Rhine. I will get some cards so you can see what it looks like. I’ll bring them when I get to come home. But I don’t know when that will be. I hope before long. I sure would like to be there for Christmas. But guess there isn’t any chance. Will close and write more next time.
Goodbye to all,
Cleo J. McGaugh,
Co. C 1st Field Bn. Sig. Corps A E.F.
