TRANSCRIBED FROM THE HOT SPRINGS NEW ERA JANUARY 20, 1919 P. 4
Mr. Schupp.
c/o The Hatterie Co.
Hot Springs, Ark.
Dear friend:
No doubt you will be surprised to receive this letter from me, especially in this vicinity, but due to the adventure, and attraction of government work, invaded this country. The progression of the cantonment has advanced so rapidly toward completion, that the close is expected early, and I will again come back in Arkansas. It will perhaps concern to you to know that I then will be ready for some discriminating wearing apparel and knowing your exclusive line of hats, displays the latest models, your approval and choice of approval and choice of selecting a derby hat from previous measurements and adjustments of my head, will be appreciated. Trusting that you will remember them and select something appropriate. I remain,
Yours Respectfully,
Harry Meyer
P.S. Please send same C.O.D. or you can remit bill in advance before sending hat. My size is 7 1/8. My address is Camp Knox branch, Louisville, Ky. I am the son of S. Meyer. In referring to him, you will recollect who I am.
NOTES: Harry Meyer was born on April 28, 1897 and died on May 6, 1966. He is buried in the Jewish Rest Cemetery in Garland County, Arkansas. He might not be a soldier. At the time he registered for the draft he was listed as a Time Keeper working for Jno. Griffith and Son at Camp Knox, Ky.
