TRANSCRIBED FROM THE BENTON COURIER DECEMBER 12, 1918 P. 2
Alencon, France.
November 10, 1918.
Dear Friend:
It is with pleasure I write you a few lines this lonesome Sabbath afternoon.
How are you? As for myself, I am feeling just fine. I finally arrived safe and sound in France and did not get seasick on the way over. Now believe me if you will; that old pond they call the Atlantic, is quite a lake. I can now see why it is called a sea. After you have gotten out to where you can’t see land, why sea is all you can see, just as far as the eyes can sea (see)
France is an awfully pretty country but the U. S. A. is more beautiful to me than any place I’ve ever seen yet. In France one objection I find is that I can’t learn to speak this lingo of a language they have over here. It sounds like those Italians there to me. If I could take to these pretty French girls I probably would like France better.
My, you have no idea how I would like to be back in good old Arkansas. Gee, I would be happy, and I am fool enough to believe I will soon be on my way back.
Well, I will close. Write real soon and give me all the news. So good bye.
Yours as ever,
Private William H. Ming
