Dear Folks at Home:
I was wounded on the 15th of June, about 8 o’clock in the morning by a rifle ball. It has necessitated the amputation of my left arm. Fortunately I am not suffering much pain. The doctors and nurses are doing everything they can and we get good food. I do not want you to worry for I feel that I am going to get along all right and will get to come home and see you all again. Your loving son and brother,
Oscar J. Moore
NOTES: Oscar J. Moore was born on February 3, 1887 and died of his wounds on June 23, 1918. He is buried in the Union Cemetery in Fulton County, Arkansas.
