TRANSCRIBED FROM THE ASHLEY COUNTY EAGLE SEPTEMBER 26, 1918 P. 1
I like France very well for what I have seen of it, though everything sure looks old. Well, papa, I am to go up to the front in a few days I guess. I don’t know what day, but it can’t be long. We have had sufficient training now; have been here three weeks, and that is about as long as it takes to fix us up after we land here. I am ready to go. That is what we came over here to do and God being my helper, I am going for all I can do to help keep the huns on the run. And I know with God’s help I can do something. We are having some good meetings over here,--three services a week, two on Sunday and one Wednesday. May God bless you all till I return is my prayer.
Your loving son,
Edward
