TRANSCRIBED FROM THE MENA EVENING STAR JANUARY 9, 1918, P. 1
To the Red Cross of Mena, Ark.
I am pleased to write you a few lines. With a number of other boys I am in the base hospital. We have plenty of Red Cross nurses here but would like a nurse from good old Mena. War is quite a game and we play it hard. I would like to ask a favor of the Red Cross of Mena. I would like a shaving outfit and a pair of hair clippers. We boys have a hard way of getting shaved and our hair cut. If you send clippers send the “00.” I am from your town and will appreciate anything you can send me.
Ray Mundy
Co. I, 155th Inf.
