TRANSCRIBED FROM THE HELENA WORLD DECEMBER 21, 1917 P. 1
Fort Worth, Tex., Dec. 16, 1917.
Mr. John Anton,
Helena, Ark.
Dear Friend John:
I guess you have about forgotten me, but I will never forget you.
How are you getting along? I am in the hospital at present, with tonsillitis, but I will be out tomorrow.
We are having some cool weather at present. We are sleeping in tents but keep comfortably warm. Our tents are floored and walled, and we have a heater and all the wood we can burn.
I haven’t found anyone from Arkansas yet, and sometimes I feel like I am in the right church but the wrong pew. Most all the boys in this squadron are from the North and East. Now, at Kelly Field you could find men from all parts of the United States, and there were several from the Philippine Islands.
Everyone is satisfied with the army and as there are only a few men here, we have a good time together.
Well, John, I must close for this time. Give my regards to all, and write soon.
Your friend,
E. M. Pace.
184th Aero Squadron, Camp Taliaferro No. 3, Fort Worth, Texas.
