TRANSCRIBED FROM THE GREEN FOREST TRIBUNE FEBRUARY 1, 1918 P. 2
Jan. 27, 1918.
Dear friend Chet:
Will try and write you after so long a time. How is Green Forest and all the boys?
Well, Chet, I am in the army and like it fine. We are on the outgoing list but don’t know when we will get away. They can’t get me out of Texas any too soon to suit me for I don’t like the sand storms they have here. Is there any of the boys in the service that I know? If so, let me know what they are in and where they are.
Well, Chet, our mail is censored so can’t write much.
Have been in quarantine for the past week and have got another week of it. We are all well but guess they want to keep us that way.
Give my regards to all the boys. Will write more next time. The mail orderly is ready to go to the P. O. so have to close. Will tell you all about the aero life in next letter.
Your friend,
Lem S. Parks
227th Aero Sqdn. Kelly Field No. 1
S. San Antonio, Texas.
NOTES: Parks is writing to Chester Reeves. Parks moved to California about 1906.
