TRANSCRIBED FROM THE MODERN NEWS DECEMBER 28, 1917 P. 1
Camp Beaureguard, La.
Dec 15.
To the Ladies of Waldenburg, Ark.
Esteemed and Dear Ladies:
All of us and a few of us especially, who received your box of delicacies wish to express our appreciation of same. You do not fully realize how much it is appreciated by the soldiers in the army. It is not only the feeling of pleasure and satisfaction of knowing that you are remembered by your home folks, it also gives a feeling of individual existence and worth which one is likely to lose in the great masses. We realize that we are fighting for our country, but when we go over the top the thought of those nearest to us, who remember us so kindly shall be formost in our mind and we shall do our duty in guarding our country and you against the common foe.
Thanking you again, we are, sincerely,
Your Soldier Friends.
NOTES: This note was written by a group of unidentified soldiers.
