Dear Sis:
I will write you a few lines tonight. I am all o. k. and so is most of the boys that I know of. Chester Cooper is still with me. Grason Neel had to go to the hospital, but I think that he is not seriously sick. He was not wounded.
Well, we sure had a time with the Dutchmen for a while. On the 14th night of this month a battle began and it has not stopped yet on our part. Of course the enemy has retreated some. I guess you have saw all about it in the papers so I will not say anything more than this. The papers can’t tell it all.
Well, what is the matter? Why haven’t you wrote to me? I wish you would write once a week anyway whether you get a letter from me or not. I do not have time to write and you do.
We are not at the front now---just got relieved. I guess we will not go to the front any more for a while. We may go to the Italian front next time.
Well, I will close. Be sure and write once a week.
I am as ever
Bill

NOTES: This letter was written by Willie Richardson to his sister Miss Bertha. He is the son of Jim Dodd and Mrs. Richardson.
