TRANSCRIBED FROM THE BENTON COURIER OCTOBER 24, 1918 P. 2
Dear Mother:
I will try to answer your kind letter I received. I sure was glad to hear from you. This leaves me well and fine and I am having a good time. I like over here fine. We have seen lots of the country and the French are mighty nice to the Americans.
Well, Mamama. I don’t think the war will last long. I think I will be home by Christmas. Tell old Dick I think I will be ready to go to work for him by the first of the year. I havn’t heard anything of Pete since I have been over here/ What kind of work is Papa and Charlie doing now?
Well. I will close, for I don’t know much to write. Answer soon and tell all the news.
Your son,
Flody Samples.
P. S. No, I don’t need any money.
NOTES: This letter was written by Floyd Samples from France to his mother, Mrs. Fannie Samples.
