TRANSCRIBED FROM THE BAXTER BULLETIN DECEMBER 14, 1917 P. 2
Mr. Tom Shiras
Dear Tom:
If you can find space, please publish this.
Myself and Henry Aishe, from Buford, are here together, we have been transferred away from the other Baxter County boys, and being quarrantined all the time against measles and other diseases, can't find out where the other boys are, so we thought we could find out though your paper where they are located.
We sure had a good turkey dinner Thanksgiving, all seemed to enjoy themselves.
This Camp is located near Alexandria, La., Climate is much milder here than North Ark.
Hoping to hear from all my Baxter County friends and soldier boys.
Yours Truly
Private Ralph Sanford,
156 Ambulance, Co.,
Camp Beauregard, La.
NOTES: Ralph Sanford was writing to the editor of the Baxter Bulletin. He was born on December 2, 1890 in Mountain Home, Arkansas and died on January 16, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio. He is buried in the Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. His military headstone identifies him as Arkansas, Sgt. 114 San. Train 39th Div. He enlisted on September 1, 1917 and was discharged on July 9, 1919.
