Dear Friend Noble:
As I have a little time I will write you a few lines. Suppose you know that I am living in France.
I am living in a French house and am very comfortable. We have a nice fireplace and have candles for light. France sure is a beautiful place and very pretty girls. The French believe in olden times, such as driving oxen, wearing wooden shoes, etc. It seems strange for me to see a cart drawn by dogs.
As news is very scarce, I will close. Hoping to hear from you soon. I remain your friend.
Francis X. Schlaick
NOTES: Schlaick is serving in the Supply Co. Ord. Det. 45th Art’y C. A. C. A. E. F. He is writing to Noble Lee Thompkins.
