TRANSCRIBED FROM THE SPECTATOR DECEMBER 3, 1918 P. 1
Dear Brother:
How are you? Fine, I hope.
I am fine and dandy.
I got three fingers on my left hand wounded, but I think they will be well by the time you get this letter. Claudie, how is papa and mama by now? Is papa’s health improving? Claudie you send this to mama and all so they wont be uneasy about me.
I try to take time about writing to you. I went to a show last night, had a good show. Tell Elizabeth hello, for me. So I will close for now.
Lovingly your brother,
Sgt. Bellville Smith.
P.S. I am at the hospital, but address my letters to my old address. When I went to date my letter I happen to think it was your birthday, so wishing you a happy birthday and a big cake.
